The new CR1000 and CR3000 HMIs feature a wide array of connectivity options suitable for today’s most challenging project applications, quickly interconnecting devices from a variety of leading manufacturers using the new Crimson® 3.1 software.
With a built-in library of more than 300 industrial protocols and the ability to support 16M colours, these new HMIs allow you to create more engaging and user-friendly interfaces that are visually striking.
The Model 25SP Programmable Size 25 Accu-CoderPro™ shaft encoder is specifically designed for the challenges of an industrial environment. Built to the same industrial standards and size as the 725 platform, the Model 25SP is programmable for resolution, waveform and signal output and with an advanced set of electronics contained within the rugged, industrial housing, making this model perfect for a variety of applications. As well, the Model 25SP Accu-CoderPro™ comes standard with dual bearings rated 80lbs axial or radial, and may be specified with up to IP67 sealing.
This all-new design is programmable up to 65536 pulses per revolution, and available in IP67 and -40 deg C to 100 deg C versions, this model also uses EPC’s optional programming module, allowing users to select the output type, more than 30 different waveforms and any resolution from 1 to 65,536 CPR.
These programming features allow a single encoder to be configured for multiple applications, enabling one encoder to replace many different part numbers, providing cost savings on inventory and downtime replacement.

New Offerings Combine Communication and Control Capabilities to Reduce Cost and Complexity

YORK, Pa., Oct. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Red Lion Controls, the global experts in communication, monitoring and control for industrial automation and networking, today announced its rugged Graphite® platform has been expanded to include a new Graphite Core Controller and Graphite Crimson® Control Module that combine communication and control capabilities to reduce cost and ease operations. Both hardware offerings leverage an enhanced version of Red Lion’s powerful Crimson 3.0 software with added Crimson Control functionality to provide a single programming solution for control, networking and data visualization.
Crimson Control enables customers to use IEC 61131 programming languages – such as Ladder Logic, Function Block, Structured Text and Instruction List – to solve specific application needs by developing logic control much like a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) or Remote Telemetry Unit (RTU) without the added expense. This control functionality is now available as part of:
Red Lion Controls’ Graphite(R) HMI with Graphite Crimson(R) Control Module.
“Adding control and expansion options to our Graphite platform enables organizations to take communication and control capabilities even further to enhance factory automation and process control applications,” said Paul Bunnell, director of product management at Red Lion Controls. “Customers can easily reduce equipment cost and complexity by using our new IEC 61131 control functionality to program logic control code without the need for additional software or hardware.”
To support this extended functionality, Red Lion now offers rugged Graphite expansion racks that work with the Graphite platform to provide a scalable solution enabling organizations to remotely mount up to twelve plug-in modules to the back of a cabinet without extensive wiring. Each rack supports up to three plug-in modules and can be installed for a maximum of twenty modules per tethered Graphite connection.
Red Lion’s Graphite platform includes a built-in web server that enables users to monitor and control applications via PCs, tablets or smartphones. SMS text-messaging and email alerts provide early warning of process issues, which helps avoid costly downtime or site visits. In addition, protocol conversion lets customers select from more than 300 industrial protocols to seamlessly integrate disparate devices such as PLCs, drives, cameras, barcode readers and panel meters.
The Graphite platform is ideal for factory automation and process control environments that may include manufacturing, oil & gas, water/wastewater, power, utility transportation and maritime. Applications include tank batteries, pipelines, salt water disposal, pump stations, lift stations, substation controls, solar array positioning and railroad trackside controls.
Landel Controls now carries Acura Embedded Systems Inc.’s product line. Earlier this month, Acura, a Canadian designer and manufacturer of ruggedized computers, touch screens and digital video recorder, became our newest manufacturer.
Acura’s primary focus is the performance and toughness are their product line, which is designed for material handling, mobile applications and machine interface/control applications.

Red Lion proudly introduces the ProducTVity Station™, the only ready-to-deploy solution for collecting, recording and displaying critical key performance indicators and machine status messages on any TV, monitor, or projector equipped with a DVI/HDMI interface.
Lean manufacturing, six-sigma, total quality management, continuous improvement – All of these terms refer, in some form or another, to the efforts of companies as they strive to become more competitive in a global economy. While various strategies are implemented in order to improve productivity, they all have two things in common – the collection of KPIs – key performance indicators – and the communication of those KPIs to the people who can most affect improvement – the production floor personnel.
The ProducTVity Station excels at collecting data from a range of automation components. With a library of over 200 communications drivers, the PTV can communicate to PLCs, motor drives, motion controllers, bar code scanners and more. The PTV can also be expanded with CS series I/O modules, allowing it to accept digital and analog inputs from a range of sensors.
With its fully programmable graphical interface, the PTV allows users to create high-definition visual management displays without the limits imposed by traditional LED-based lean manufacturing displays. Eye-catching displays that combine KPIs along with andon messages can easily be created. The ProducTVity Station’s 720p (1280 x 780 resolution) DVI output is compatible with both 720p and 1080p/i TVs with DVI or HDMI interfaces.
The PTV’s built-in data-logger can record key performance indicators, as well as andon events for later review, and can synchronize the log files with any FTP server and/or Microsoft’s SQL Server® for further analysis.
The ProducTVity Station extends production monitoring to remote personnel by providing email and text alerts, and its built-in webserver allows productivity information to be monitored via any networked PC or smart-phone. If enabled, remote personnel can take partial or full control of the system remotely, allowing a maintenance person to effect changes without a site visit.
The ProducTVity Station ships complete with a 2GB CompactFlash card, as well as a DVI to HDMI cable (15´), and HDMI/DVI adapter. The PTV is programmed with Red Lion’s popular Crimson® software.
